The 7 years Isabelle Teste spent working in advertising creation developed her keen taste for words ans concepts. This is why, after a few years as a milliner for the Paris Opera, for Haute Couture and for Marie Mercié, she created her own brand -TESTE. The label was launched with a bubble-wrap rain hat, sold at the trendy Parisian boutique Colette, in a message-conveying packaging. During 6 years, Isabelle Teste’s hats are sold at le Bon Marché and le Printemps. Every season, she presents a new collection, very feminin and full of imagination. The use of other household materials such as oilcloth or shower curtains, in fresh and humorous ways, are also a source of inspiration for Isabelle. But it is through the creation of her rain hats made of recycled plastic shopping bags, that she has best expressed her ecological commitment without taking herself too seriously. Her products strike a defiant chord in the face of our hyper-consumerist society, with their «100% plasticbag» hallmark and their visible and colorful dedication in the fight against wastefulness. This re-invented material also provides boundless inspiration in the creation of message-carrying objects, as well as monumental installations. She constantly strives to diversify her creations with the use of other recycled or organic materials, without ever losing her off-beat vision or joining the moralizing rank of eco-pessimists.
